The Rani Shakti Mandir in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad, once again hosted the monthly gathering of Shri Mehandipur Balaji Mitra Mandal. This was the 37th edition of the Mandal’s musical Sundarkand Path.
Balaji devotees turn out in force
A large crowd of Balaji devotees gathered for the event. The temple premises were attractively decorated, and the grand darbar arrangement won the hearts of the devotees present.
An unbroken run of three years
The consistency of this monthly series is notable — it has now passed its third year and counts among the most dependable religious events in Shahibaug. Because it falls on a fixed date each month, devotees find it easy to take part.
The strength of monthly events
Running a monthly event for years without a break is no easy task for any mandal. It requires three things at once: a steady body of volunteers, regular financial support and the trust of the community. This series by Mehandipur Balaji Mitra Mandal shows how organised effort can turn a religious tradition into a permanent fixture on the community calendar.
Rani Shakti Mandir — the heart of Shahibaug
The Rani Shakti Mandir in Shahibaug has become the settled home of this monthly event. Holding it regularly at one venue builds an attachment to the place in the minds of devotees, and newcomers find their way to it easily too.
