A grand and devotional Sundarkand Path was held to mark the Griha Pravesh of a new home at the Karnavati-7 apartments in New Narol. The entire programme was carried out in an atmosphere of faith and celebration.
Devotees and neighbours turn out
By the boundless grace of Shri Balaji Maharaj, a large number of devotees and residents from the surrounding area joined the religious programme and became part of it.
The performance by Shri Maruti Nandan Sundarkand Mandal
Shri Maruti Nandan Sundarkand Mandal, Isanpur presented a musical Sundarkand. The singing of the chaupais, the bhajans and the chants of Jai Shri Ram set the whole place ringing. The devotion the Mandal’s performers showed towards Hanuman ji moved everyone present.
Religious events in apartment life
Amid Ahmedabad’s growing apartment culture, events of this kind are playing an important role. In flat culture, where neighbours often barely know one another, a collective path at a Griha Pravesh gives a whole apartment block one occasion to sit down together.
Sundarkand and devotion to Hanuman
Sundarkand is the only kand of the Ramcharitmanas with Hanuman ji at its centre. It covers his leap across the ocean, his search for Sita Mata in Lanka and the burning of Lanka. It is believed that reciting it gives courage and removes difficulties — which is why it is chosen in particular for occasions marking a new beginning.
